Galgalatz is a radio station that is powered by Galei Tzahal (the IDF's radio station, which was established in 1950). Galgalatz was established in 1993 by Moshe Shlonsky who was the commander of Galei Tzahal at the time, and mainly transmits popular music continously, traffic updates and a few talk shows. The station was established with the support of the Ministry of Transportation (the National Road Safety Authority) and it frequently broadcasts on road safety. Every hour the station transmits a news broadcast, sometimes from the IDF's news room and sometimes from the station's news room. Galgalatz is considered Israel's most popular radio station with a very high audience, especially among the younger population.
